The original SII had a 3/4 fractional rig with the forestay running from about 10" aft of the bow to about 3/4 of the way up the mast (displayed above). In 1957, the Silhouette changed from the original fractional rig to a masthead rig and from inboard fitting of the forestay to the permitted nose fitting.
