How It Works
SailboatReference is a catalogue of sailing yacht specifications. This page explains how to find a boat, how to read a yacht page and how you can contribute.
Searching
Use Search Yachts to find boats by model name, builder or designer, and narrow the results with the filters on the page. Builders and designers also have their own pages listing every model they are linked to.
Reading a yacht page
- Specifications: dimensions, weights, rig, keel, engine and tankage, in metric units.
- Performance ratios: hull speed, sail area/displacement, ballast/displacement and others. Hover over a label for a short explanation; the formulas are described in Sources & methodology.
- Notes: background on the design and its production history.
- Sources: where the data comes from and, for new models, a link to the builder's own page.
Contributing
If you own or know a boat, you can add photos and price observations. You can also report an error through the contact page. Every contribution is reviewed by a person before it is published.
Embed specs on your site
Builders, brokers, clubs and bloggers can show a boat's specifications on their own site. Open a yacht page and choose Share / Embed to copy a small spec card (metric or imperial, light or dark) or a static image. The card updates itself when the data changes, sets no cookies and links back to the full yacht page here.
